Christmas In Ridgeville 2022

The colors have fallen from the trees, the air has a calming chill, the Holidays are quickly approaching, and that means that Christmas In Ridgeville is just a few short weeks away!  Last year’s inaugural kickoff was so warmly received and supported by the community, that this year’s committee has added some new events and activities for all ages to help you kick off your holiday season.

Last year an outstanding home tour was held, this year they are prepping for a chocolate walk, musical entertainment downtown, an ice skating rink, and so much more!  Purchase a long sleeve t-shirt or short sleeve t-shirt to commemorate the event and help support our small community!  See the list of up to date events and times by clicking here for the Christmas In Ridgeville Facebook page for more details, and join us for a wonderful holiday event for the whole family!

We were ecstatic to be be involved in the event last year and are even more excited to be a part of this outstanding event this year; as a lifelong resident of Ridgeville Corners, seeing the community come together for this weekend event makes us so very proud to be able to help create for and contribute to Christmas In Ridgeville!  SSRM Designs & Photography has had so much fun creating the tickets, chocolate walk signage, and the new garments for this year’s event!  Come out and support all of the local businesses in Ridgeville on Dec. 3 & 4, SSRM will be out taking Christmas Card Photos for guests on Saturday and at the Christmas Village Craft Show on Sunday.  SSRM would like to thank you for all of your support over the years!  We are your local, hometown full service photographer and graphic designer of logos, garments, promotional items, signage, decals, and more!!

Christmas In Ridgeville Home Tour Tickets

Growing up in a small town in NWO means a lot to so many.  Our small hometown is a strong farming community full of small businesses that support one another.  This year our town is hosting a Holiday event for everyone and it has been an honor to create so many wonderful things for the event!  Kicking off the evening is the Holiday Home Tour with several gorgeous homes around town that will be decorated for the Holiday and open to ticket holders to enjoy.  Creating the tickets was the first project that we put together; With the option of an enhanced ticket with spirits from a local business at the end of your home tour, you can’t go wrong with the beautiful homes you will see!  Tickets are still available for purchase, come on out and enjoy a quaint evening in our wonderful town!

AHS & RHS Alumni Band 2018

Homecoming season is here and with that comes special halftime shows and activities for all of our local schools and bands.  I once again had the honor of capturing my alama mater’s alumni band this year!  The AHS/RHS Alumni Band was strong with many members returning to help celebrate homecoming and to pick up their instruments one more time!  Having been a member of the Marching Bluestreaks in high school, I know that the traditions run deep, the pride is strong, and there’s nothing like the sound of the drum cadences while marching!  It was amazing to see so many alumni standing next to current marching band students and to hear all of them together made you proud.  What a wonderful job by all alumni, students, and those whom helped to bring the evening together, looking forward to next year!  Thank you AHS/RHS members for an amazing evening, you sounded great!

Norbert & Marie Rohrs

Happy 50th Anniversary to this fantastic couple!  I got to capture something a little different for a change last weekend, not a wedding or family session, but an anniversary party!  It was fun to walk around and capture the events of the evening, mingle, and share stories with everyone.  It just so happens that Norbert & Marie are not only neighbors and friends, but family as well!  From cake and great food, to tractors and polka, it was a great day!  Something that many don’t know about my family is there have been and are some amazing polka bands in it!  I grew up attending polka and square dances, and listening to Norbert’s band, Happy Times Polka, practice on warm summer nights from down the road!  Polka is so much a part of our family that we had Happy Times Polka join our DeeJay at our wedding to share some sets!  Happy Anniversary Norbert & Marie and cheers to many more!

AHS & RHS Alumni Band 2017

Fall, the smell of falling leaves, cool rains, pumpkins, mums, it’s my favorite time of the year! October also means it’s Archbold High School & Ridgeville High School Alumni Band night! I am honored to be able to capture this evening each year, to see faces I don’t see often, catch up with them, and reminisce! What started out as a rainy morning and afternoon, turned into a gorgeous night for everyone. Events are such a fun thing to capture, you never know what’s going to happen, a drummer could break out into dancing to James Brown or the flag girls could lift trumpet player! A huge thank you to all involved for making this evening happen for the Alumni, the 2017 AHS Marching Band, the speaker Mr. Hoverman, current AHS Band Director Beth Voll & her amazing staff, it was a fun night to be a part of! Looking forward to next year already! Go Streaks & Falcons!

Ohio Flags of Honor

Our small community was excited and humbled to host the Ohio Flags of Honor this last Saturday & Sunday, and what a beautiful weekend it was!  With many helping to set up Friday night, the wonderful ceremony of placing the flags and reading of the names of the fallen Ohio Heroes on Saturday, and to the many whom came to visit Saturday night and into Sunday.  Our American Legion Post 454 did an amazing job of putting a great program together for the Ohio Flags of Honor!   Click here to check out their Facebook page and see some of their images from the weekend!  As a one of the advisers to our local 4-H club, we were honored to have been asked by the Legion Commander to help place the flags along with another 4-H Club, Freedom Royal Farmers, members of our local Fire Department, Veterans, current members of our Military, and many other community members!  While I was there to help get our 4-Hers started and organized, I couldn’t resist bringing my camera to capture this once in a lifetime event, it was truly amazing!  Thank you to those whom have served and are serving!

Def Com 3

This last weekend I had the honor of covering Def Com 3!  This was the 3rd year for the local mini comic con and the turn out was wonderful!  So many unique and artistic things on display, from artwork to cosplay steam props!  There were arts and crafts for the kids, face painting, and even a cosplay contest!  Darth Vader, a storm trooper, Batman, & the Ghostbusters just to name a few also made an appearance!  Who could resist a selfie with these great characters?!  Another highlight from the day was the replica Supernatural Chevy Impala, fans young and old took turns sitting in this gorgeous ride!  A huge Thank You goes to the DPLS for putting on this amazing event, who’s ready for Def Com 4?!

DYS Leadership Retreat 2017

A couple weeks ago I was honored to be able to capture the DYS Leadership Retreat!  Each year the event features a guest speaker to help motivate and encourage the teens.  The Leadership program is committed to helping give all young T1D’s the tools needed to embrace their opportunities and differences, while working together towards better health, knowledge, friendships, and leadership!  This year’s guest speaker was the one and only Chris Ruden!  Chris is a powerlifter, entrepreneur, model, and motivational speaker — and a T1D!  It was absolutely amazing to meet this young man and watch him engage, capture, and work one on one with these teens.  Not only did he speak with them, he cooked with them!  If you ever get the opportunity to listen to Chris, do it, he will inspire you with his honesty, kindness, inspirational words, and overall genuine compassion for helping others!  Thank you Chris for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with DYS!

AHS Alumni Marching Band 2016

It’s marching band season, and that means it’s also time for the AHS Alumni Band to joib the AHS Marching Bluestreaks on the field for Homecoming!  Friday evening October 7, I was honored to be able to capture this wonderful annual event again this year!  As Ryan put it that night, the average age of a marcher on the field dramatically went up, and what a wonderful site that was to see!  Members spanning several generations joining the current generation to make AHS Homecoming special!  Led by the unprecedented and former AHS Director, Phil Hoverman, sounds of the combined bands filled the air for a magical start to a wonderful night!  Looking forward to next year!
